This is the Wrenn W2225 standard 8F in LMS Black, running number 8042. It was one of the few Locomotives that spanned all 4 Periods of production output from the Basildon Factory, but is not as common as its BR counterpart "48073". This particular example comes from the late Period 1 era (circa 1968/9) and is becoming more difficult to find in good condition. I believe production figures are missing for this early LMS version of the 8F however as a collector I have not see many over the years. This has the standard Yellow numbering/letter transfers which were used up to 1975 by the Basildon factory.
This is the "workhorse" for freight operations on any "00 Gauge" Layout and has seen limited layout use in my opinion.
Locomotive/Tender/box are " excellent" " for their age. The underneath of the inner box has the later issue white base and "Packer No 6" stamp in black ink, correct for late Period 1 Basildon issue..
Complete with original box, including packing rings, tissue, Hornby Dublo coupling conversion kit, and Period 1 blue Instruction manual.
AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THIS PERIOD 1 WRENN 8F LMS LOCOMOTIVE!
