This is an excellent example of the Wrenn W2239 "Eddystone" 4-6-2 Rebuilt West Country Class Locomotive in BR Green, running number 34028. As with all Period 3 Wrenn Locomotives it has "metal rimmed" bogie/tender wheels for smooth running and minimal wear. The nameplates are standard P3/4 issue, and the tender has the late BR totem.
Wrenn, Basildon production records I believe indicate over 1000 were produced in Late period 3 (circa 1979/80) however as a collector of many years I believe the figure to be far less. Also this example is not “ play worn” like many of its counterparts from this era, and has only seen limited layout use in my opinion.
The Locomotive/tender comes in its original box, and includes packing rings, tissue, Hornby Dublo coupling conversion kit, and blue Instruction Manual. The bottom of the inner box has the usual sellotape residue marks indicating Wrenn, Basildon Period 3 issue.
Overall Condition of the Locomotive/Tender "near mint", box is "excellent" for their age.
