This is a superb example of the Wrenn W2265/A Battle of Britain Class Locomotive "Fighter Pilot" in Southern Region Green Livery. This is the Golden Arrow version with "cross flags" and shield, and arrows mounted down each side of the locomotive. Wrenn issued the W2265/A between late 1982 to 1987 and then a small number in the remaining 1991/2 years before Basildon closure.
Wrenn did three SPAMCANS with these types of Golden Arrow adornments "Fighter Pilot-SR Green", "City of Wells-BR Green", and "Exeter-SR Green".
The "Fighter Pilot" was one of the first "SPAMCANS" to be introduced with the G/A adornments and this example is from the Mid Period 4 Basildon era. ( circa 1985). Has seen minimal layout use in my opinion.
The Locomotive and tender are supplied in original box, and include packing rings, tissue, and blue Instruction Manual. The underneath of the inner box is stamped "Packer No 3 04518 " indicating 18th week, 4th Month, 1985 Basildon issue. .
Locomotive/tender/box is " near mint ", for their age.
Note : This exampled is correct with the early yellow lining.
